Autumn has arrived and anyone north of King Township can see the leaves have already started to change colours.
It also signifies a time of year that features warm days, cool nights and some incredible things to see and do in Muskoka.
From harvest festivals to getting those final rounds of golf in, and much more, it’s a fabulous time of year to visit the region.
The best part about Autumn in Muskoka for this scribe is the wondrous natural display of bright oranges, reds, and yellows throughout the forested areas in the region.
One of the coolest experiences is driving up Highway 11 or across Highway 60 and having the arbors light up the skyline with their brilliance. Seriously, it still brings joy to my heart even after living in Muskoka for so long.
The abundance of places to really take in the fall colours is one of the best reasons to visit Muskoka in the fall.
My favourite places to visit to soak in the season include Arrowhead Provincial Park and Limberlost Forest and Wildlife Reserve in Huntsville, Huckleberry Rock and Wilson’s Falls in Bracebridge, as well as the Hardy Lake Provincial Park and the Walker’s Point Lookout Trail in Torrance.
Of course, there is also Algonquin Park – only 20 minutes east of Huntsville – to enjoy all the nature one can handle.

One favourite event of many from across the region and beyond is the annual Sandhill Nursery Fall Festival in support of Hospice Huntsville that runs through October 26.
Those attending are asked to make a donation they can afford to the fundraiser. There is plenty of fun for all ages, including a maze, giant games, bowling with gourds, a fantastic array of handcrafted displays, life music, and more.
Plus, Sandhill is once again partnering with the Huntsville Festival of the Arts to stage a series of concerts called Nursery Nights.
Another popular event is the Cranberry Harvest in Bala that started on September 20 and runs through the end of October with the highlight being the Bala Cranberry Festival that takes place October 17 to 19.

One of my favourite things to do this time of year is to hit the links at any of the fantastic golf courses in Muskoka.
There are the three Clublink clubs – Grandview in Huntsville, Lake Joseph in Port Sandfield, and Rocky Crest in MacTier – as well as Deerhurst in Huntsville, North Granite Ridge in Port Sydney, Muskoka Bay Club and Taboo in Gravenhurst, Bracebridge Golf Club, and several others.
Part of the attraction is knowing the end of the Muskoka golf season is near, but it’s also about the incredible scenery surrounding the most aesthetic courses, the wildlife making their way around as they ready for the cooler months, and the hope that after a full season the scorecard looks good at the end of 18.

Those are a few of my favourite things to do in Muskoka and events in Muskoka this Autumn.
There are so many other fun things to do, including art tours, one off fundraising events, concerts and other live performances, and much more. Just come on over and enjoy!
That’s it for me! Ciao for Now!
