Fun Family-Friendly Canada Day Events

Our nations 158th birthday is upon us and there is always so much to do!

Many people escape to their cottage and spend the day on the water, others find community events close to where ever they find themselves to enjoy.

For the majority of my subscribers and followers, I’ve made it a bit easier to choose which events to attend with the list below of Canada Day activities. Apologies if your specific community isn’t on here, but send me a message and I’ll add it!

Muskoka and Simcoe County

In Huntsville, the day gets started at Muskoka Heritage Place on Brunel Road with a scavenger hunt, cupcakes, and more. The day continues at River Mill Park all afternoon with games and activities for all ages, and live music. Finally, fireworks at 10 p.m. close out the day over Hunters Bay.

In Gravenhurst, community events take place at Gull Lake Rotary Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a variety of family fun entertainment, including live music and activities.

As well, the Muskoka Discovery Centre at the Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst is having a Canada Day Open House from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is a free, family-friendly celebration of Canada, featuring special guest artists, engaging speakers, and more exciting activities.

In Orillia, Couchiching Beach Park is the place to be for a fun-filled Canada Day. The day begins with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. and concludes with fireworks at 9:45 p.m. In between enjoy a parade, a midway, a children’s village, and much, much more.

In Barrie, events take place from noon to 10 p.m. at Centennial Park featuring many live performances from musicians, magicians, and more. At 10 p.m. fireworks take place with multiple viewing points along the waterfront.

The GTA (Greater Toronto Area not Grand Theft Auto – hehehe)

North Maple Regional Park, just north of Teston Road and Keele Street, is the host of Vaughan’s annual Canada Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Live entertainment, family-friendly activities for all ages, and much more!

Victoria Fields Park is hosting the Whitby Canada Day fireworks at 10 p.m. Prior to the lighting up the sky, there will be food trucks at the Victoria Street parking lot to grab a bite on the way to the park.

Markham Centre hosts family-friendly entertainment, activities and more from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with a fireworks display capping off the evening at 10 p.m.

Downtown Toronto

Nathan Phillips Square has a free, family friendly celebration from noon to 5:30 p.m. with live music, dance performances, and face painting.

Head to Queen’s Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for midway rides, crafts, live entertainment including breakdancing champion Phil Wizard at 11:30 a.m., and tours of the Legislative Assembly.

Harbourfront is a lovely place to spend any day. Even more so for Canada Day where the celebration at 235 Queens Quay West includes free music, dance, comedy, and arts beginning at noon and concluding with fireworks at 10:45 p.m.

Those are just a few of my picks for places to go, I’m sure there are plenty more!

That’s it for me! Ciao for Now!
