MiND-AID Muskoka launches mobile hub

The new hub adds another way to help youth with mental health and wellness

They couldn’t have asked for a better evening or better turnout.

With dignitaries from across Muskoka, supporters, well-wishers, and donors in attendance, MiND-AID Muskoka launched their Mobile Youth Wellness Hub on Sept. 18 at Memorial Park in Bracebridge.

Founder Jody North and chair James Bowler led the proceedings, which included an indigenous smudge and prayer, props to the many sponsors and donors who made the mobile hub possible, and a cheque presentation from Scott Turnbull and Gavin Hammond (they raised well over $30,000 for MiND-AID through their cycling efforts).

On this warm (and fuzzy) evening under the stars, the community support was evident for this much-needed hub.

As Bowler noted in his speech, the stigma surrounding mental health wellness is slowly going away, but it is also important to remember there are many people (particularly young people) who need support and help along their journey.

The new hub will be staff by an experienced healthcare professional and will be on the road soon. MiND-AID Muskoka will announce the hub’s schedule as soon as possible.

Here are some photos from the mobile hub launch event . . .

To get more information and share it with our readers, we took some information about the Mobile Hub directly from the MiND-AID website.

What is the Mobile Hub?

One right door to all services, resources and care, for children, teens and young adults. We assist young people in finding and receiving all they need to feel and be their best selves. Not sure where to start or what you need? No problem, we can figure it out together.

HOW DOES THE HUB WORK?

Our friendly & skilled Hub Team will be stopping at different locations all over the Muskoka area, to host free inclusive drop-in activities and programs for youth. We will offer social & recreational hang-outs, educational workshops and Indigenous cultural & ceremonial activities.

Through the Hub, young people will be able to gain access to mental health & addictions care, primary health care, social & cultural supports, food security programs, housing, employment & education supports, financial supports, and so much more.

We have collaborating partners throughout the community who are coming along for the ride, so we will have many guest visitors and interesting programs.

Are you interested in us coming to your location?

Contact us and we will determine if we fit. Before going to locations we need to conduct a site inspection because we are very big. Forty feet long to be exact.
