Hospice Harvest Fest upcoming

Ticket sales on now with a signature brew, live music, and more on tap for the fundraiser

The upcoming Hospice Harvest Fest is shaping up to be a fantastic fundraising event.

A media launch was held at Canvas Brewery in Huntsville on Sept. 17 to announce the local brew pub would be hosting the November 1 event from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

This is the third annual Harvest Fest being held in support of Hospice Huntsville, which must raise 50% of their operating costs each year to match the government funding it receives. The fundraising target for Harvest Fest is $30,000.

“That’s why events like Hospice Harvest Fest are so important,” says Melissa Polischuk, fund development and public relations coordinator for Hospice Huntsville. “(This) is a unique opportunity for us to come together and celebrate the end of the harvest season while supporting a vital community cause.”

All funds collected are used to keep Hospice Huntsville and all its programs running and improving, including grief groups, one on one grief support, education, an expansion for more space for residents and families who need to stay, and much more.

“The building (expansion) will be ready in the new year,” says Polischuk. “We hope to be in by 2025.”

Tracey Badger, events coordinator for Hospice Huntsville, told every early bird ticket sales had already begun and explained what to expect from Harvest Fest.

“This year we’ll have an online auction leading up to the event starting on October 18,” says Badger. “On November 1, you can enjoy music from Tobin Spring Trio, Chef Randy Spencer is catering the event, and there will be four artists in a live art challenge, and more.”

She also thanked the sponsors such as the signature sponsor Muskoka Medical and Campus Trail Remedy’s Rx Pharmacies, music sponsor Kimberley Clarke, event host Canvas Brewery, and others.

The latter is also in the process of canning exclusive craft beer “Haskap Harvest Kolsch,” a Kolsch-style ale (only a brew made in a particular way from the Koln region of Germany can be called true Kolsch).

Canvas will be donating a portion from every Haskap Harvest Kolsch product sold to Hospice Huntsville. New this year, Canvas will also be selling this exclusive brew on tap and donating a $1.00 from every pint sold.

“The Haskap Harvest Kolsch is a fruity twist on our classic Original Brew,” says head brewer Seguin Sailors. “The Haskap berry is a northern superfruit with notes of blueberry sweetness and cranberry tartness.  We infused our Original Kolsch-style ale with the extract of the haskap berry to create a brew with a bready and fruity sweetness and a slightly tart crisp finish.”
