It’s worth a visit to see the amazing displays
“Hey Chris, can you drop off an indoor rack and some magazines to the Canadian Raceboat Hall of Fame?”
I replied “sure thing” to the email from Dockside editor Andrew Wagner-Chazalon, all the while asking myself, “when did this open?”
The answer came as I walked through the doors at 1512 Highway 118 West (five minutes from Bracebridge) and was greeted by Courtney Provan.
Courtney explained they had just opened on July 20. Their executive director Ann Curley wasn’t around, but I’ll be sure to catch up with her at a later date.
PHEW! I was relieved that I hadn’t somehow missed something so interesting and significant.
I was able to take a stroll through the fantastic displays featuring champion boats of various makes and sizes, engines both large and small, a mid-sized Lego version of an old boat, trophies, and much more.
I took some notes, snapped a couple pics, did my Dockside duties, and said farewell with the promise to return and get the full experience.
But, for now, I’ll recommend those living in and visiting Muskoka to stop by for a visit.
The Canadian Raceboat Hall of Fame is open seven days a week through mid-October from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is $14 per adult, $12 for seniors and students, and $4 for kids aged 10 and under. A $35 family pass is also available (includes two adults or seniors and up to give kids).
