Muskoka Marshmallo Company are the 2024 Huntsville Women’s Soccer League champions after a pair of strong victories at Conroy Park on Monday, July 22.

The champions came into the night in second place in the league, but were buoyed by a strong defensive effort in a 0-0 draw against first place Muskoka Tea Company on the last night of the regular season.

Sure enough, the final pitted the two powerhouses against each other, but this time, Muskoka Tea Company were playing without subs.

Muskoka Marshmallo Company took full advantage in a 2-0 win (both goals were own goals by Muskoka Tea Company) to take the title.

In the third place match, On the Docks Pub squeaked by The SportLab 1-0.

Earlier in the evening the semi-finals were held with the soon to be champions beating Pub on the Docks and Muskoka Tea defeating SportLab.

The final Players of the Match awards went to Mel Mercier, Claire McKnight, Lauren Vermeulen, and Rachel Marmer, while the final draw for Annie’s Lasagna from That Little Place by the Lights was won by Kate Franks.

A big shoutout needs to go to Women’s League Coordinator Michael (Coach Mike) Hill for all his efforts in setting up the fields each week, doing the scheduling, securing the amazing sponsors, and adapting to any challenges that popped up!

As well, Huntsville Soccer Club referee Glen Duffield did a great job managing the games – he was a regular figure on Monday nights – and the sponsors were tremendous (see above).

The players and administration would also like to thank all the amazing support from their fans throughout the season.
