New Location Needed for Eclipse Light Walk

Expressions of Interest being accepted to host the popular interactive installation

Despite two successful seasons hosting the fantastic Eclipse Walk with Light interactive installation at Muskoka Heritage Place, the time has come to move on.

According to Kelly Haywood, executive director of Explore Huntsville and the Huntsville Municipal Accommodation Tax Association, the reasons to move the popular exhibit are two-fold.

The first reason is to have the installation operate year round. To do that, the organizers need a location can take the light walk to the next level, providing opportunities for more engagement and increasing the brilliance of the self-guided tour with more outdoor activities in the off-season and winter months.

Unfortunately, Muskoka Heritage Place is fully a pioneer village through the warmer months and the management wanted to ensure it’s authenticity as much as possible for their visitors. Having an modern light display didn’t fit the bill.

“The operational costs of setting up and tearing down the installation seasonally became too high to continue at Muskoka Heritage Place,” says Haywood. “We’re looking for a sustainable option where we can make even those warm summer nights more enchanting.”

Those who haven’t yet visited the Eclipse Light Walk are missing out: the delightful sights and sounds provide a sensational sensory explosion.

Landowners interested in this opportunity can review details here. Intentions to submit are requested by March 18, with expressions of interest due no later than March 25.

Prospective hosts are welcome and encouraged to submit a proposal to also operate the attraction and retain a negotiated portion of the profits.

“This is an incredible opportunity for a local business to draw visitors to their property,” says Haywood. “Eclipse saw almost 60,000 visitors through its gates in its first two seasons and its future is bright.”
