The Bay 88.7 FM is giving away a $2K advertising package to a lucky winner
Muskoka’s only locally owned and operated radio station, The Bay 88.7 FM (aka Hunters Bay Radio) is once again celebrating International Women’s Day with a monthlong contest where one lucky enterprising woman will win a $2,000 advertising package.
The third annual Enterprising Women Contest kicks off today (Friday, March 8) and everyone can nominate their favourite local female-owned business. The Bay will highlight the woman and her business on-air and online – just follow the instructions at HuntersBayRadio.com.
Everyday, they will be sharing nominations from the public that want to shine a light on local female-owned businesses in the Muskoka – Almaguin areas, and we at Muskoka Unlimited will provide updates on the contest throughout the month.
Last year over 100 women in business were nominated for the contest, which the winner is selected by an on-air draw (this year the deadline for nominees is March 31 and the winner will be announced on Friday, April 5).
“Only one business owner is going to win the $2,000 prize and this strictly by drawing a name out of a hat,” says Jeff Carter, station manager of The Bay 88.7 FM. “There is no judging, it’s totally by chance.”
The timing of the contest allows the community to learn about the contest, nominate a person they want to honour, and then gives the station time to process the nomination and spread the word.
“What I found the past two years is there are a number of businesses I didn’t know existed until the owners were nominated in the contest,” explains Carter.
Indeed, this writer and many of his friends were also unaware of many of the businesses (and those running the businesses) before this contest took place.
Great Prize
The $2,000 advertising campaign will feature several months of advertising on the station as their rates are very reasonable (shameless plug for our friends at The Bay 88.7); meanwhile every nominee will get free exposure on air and online while the contest is being held.
