Challenge Met!

Community comes through to raise over $10K for Enliven Cancer Care

One of the reasons I love Huntsville, and Muskoka as a whole, so much is because of the way our community steps up to support each other however possible.

This is evidenced by the many successful fundraising galas, Go Fund Me campaigns, and other events that raise money for organizations, user groups, and individuals.

It’s also why the recently concluded Soapstone’s Challenge to the business community to donate $10,000 to Enliven Cancer Care saw that financial goal surpassed. Soapstone’s Skin Care is matching the $10,000 and has already donated $10,000 to Enliven.

On February 4th, 2023, World Cancer Day, David McLean, President and Owner of Soapstones Natural Skincare presented a challenge to the business communities of Muskoka.  He generously offered to match every donation made to Enliven in 2023 from local businesses, up to a maximum of $10,000.   This is on top of the $10,000 that Soapstones donates annually to Enliven since its inception.

Learn more about Enliven by reading Caring for the Community or listen to the podcast that David, Andrea Johnston and Chris did earlier this year (also talks about the Ballroom Blitz fundraiser that was held earlier this year).

On Friday, October 27, Soapstones and Enliven had a cheque donation ceremony for both the Soapstone’s Challenge and to receive a $2,000 donation from funds raised through The Rotary Club of North Muskoka’s Perogy-fest event. Here are the photos courtesy of Enliven Cancer Care.

Throughout 2023, businesses have stepped up to support the community organization through donations, event sponsorship of the Ballroom Blitz Art Walk and Gathering, and by becoming members of Enliven’s newly launched Giving Circle.

Major donations and sponsorship were provided by Devonleigh Homes, East Portage Dock Co., Kim O’Grady (KOG) Real Estate Inc., Muskoka Insurance, EXR Medical Imaging, RBC Communities Together Fund, IG Wealth Management, Buckslide Tent and Trailer Park, and Carrie Campbell, Lawyer and Mediator.

Enliven is a community not-for-profit who is there to help those living with cancer to feel supported-not alone; together-not isolated on their journey. They are entirely funded through donations and community support.
