Gangnam Korea a must-try when in Huntsville
It was a few years ago, shortly after Gangnam Korea opened in Huntsville that we kept hearing people say how great the food was.
For one reason or another, my beautiful wife and I – despite being foodies that love trying delicacies from inside and outside our cultures – didn’t have an opportunity to visit the Korean restaurant in the first couple of years.
As well, we are very cautious about what we eat as a family because of our son’s peanut allergy.
Eventually, we found out that Gangnam Korea owner Sunju Lee’s daughter is one of our daughter’s friends. After they were at our house working on a school project together, my wife drove them over to the restaurant for some yummy bubble tea and a nice chat.
The moms chatted, we found out there were no peanut worries for our son, and a few days later we enjoyed our first taste of Gangnam Korea’s menu.

It was so delicious that we have made it a regular part of our family take out routine. The kids love the Mozza Dogs (although we don’t get them every time) and we all love the Gangnam Style chicken (the sweet and spicy combo is so, so good)!
Our favourite order is the Gangnam Family meal that serves four (and a bit). It features the chicken we love, Korean fried rice, dumplings, Jap-Chae (glass noodles cooked in a savoury sauce), pickled radish, and the Chef’s homemade kimchi.

Chef Yangmo Kim is Sunju’s favourite cousin who help her fulfill her dream of opening a Korean restaurant in Muskoka. Sunju is a longtime Port Sydney resident who was born in Korea and raised in Muskoka.
The best part is it’s a family affair and everyone is so welcoming. Whether it’s Sunju or one of her family members or employees, you feel like your business is appreciated.
If Sunju is there when you visit (which she likely will be), make sure to ask about the time Doug Ford visited her (there is a picture on the wall of them together). It’s an interesting and really cute story that’s hers to tell, so I won’t spoil it.
So, head over to 99 Main Street East in Huntsville and enjoy some fresh, tasty Korean delights.
On that note, it’s been a little while since we visited Gangnam Korea, we may have to indulge in the next week or so to get our fix in!
