Soapstones will match $10K in business donations to Enliven Cancer Care Muskoka
Dave McLean, owner of Soapstones Natural Skin Care, has laid down a challenge to all businesses in Muskoka to raise funds for essential programming in the community.
He has committed to matching $10,000 in donations if a business, or a group of businesses, donate that amount to Enliven Cancer Care Muskoka.
“We were the founding sponsors of Enliven from the very start in 2016, my company decided to rebrand one of the scents of product we have and name it Enliven,” says McLean. “So, 50 percent of the proceeds of the sale of all of our Enliven products go to support Enliven Cancer Care Muskoka. That’s been the case over the years, and of course, as the owner I have the latitude to round up the amount every year.”
McLean’s late wife Joanne and her friend, Huntsville Yogi Allie Chisholm-Smith, founded Enliven Cancer Care Muskoka several years ago. Learn more at Caring for the Community.
“We’ve been very fortunate to be able to give over $10,000 every year to Enliven,” he says. Having already committed their annual contribution, Soapstones would be up to $20,000 in funds donated should the business challenge be met.

“We very much hope to give that amount Enliven this year as that means the community is committing to giving as well,” says McLean. “The people of Muskoka with a Cancer diagnosis and their families and caregivers are the beneficiaries of this. We run on a shoestring budget, with two parttime staff. We run a lean operation so the vast majority of the funding goes directly to helping the people who need it.”
In addition to the Soapstones Business Challenge, there is the Enliven Muskoka Ballroom Blitz fundraiser taking place on August 20. Tickets to the event are available at: https://www.enlivenmuskoka.ca/ballroom-blitz-event
